Domestic pharma industry grew by 7 per cent in May 2013

For the 12-month period ended May 2013, the pharma market stood at Rs 74,117 crore with a growth of 10 per cent.

 

Mumbai, June 23, 2013: The domestic pharmaceuticals market in India reported growth of 6.8 per cent at Rs 6,370 crore for the month of May 2013, as per the report from IMS Health. For the 12-month period ended in May 2013, the pharma market stood at Rs 74,117 crore with a growth of 10 per cent over the same period in the previous year.


Cipla with sales of over Rs 302 crore, Sun Pharma with Rs 297 crore, Alkem with Rs 222 crore and Sanofi Rs 186 crore were the fastest growing corporations among the top 10 companies in the month of May 2013.

 

Among the 20 companies, USV was the fastest growing company in the country for the month of May 2013 with a growth of 21.1 per cent. During the month of May 2013, Indian pharma companies grew by 7.4 per cent while MNC Pharma companies registered a growth of 5.3 per cent.
