Generic drugs mandatory in assam's pharmacy
The move is expected to increase the usage of generic medicines in the state.
Guwahati, July 11, 2013: Assam plans to make it mandatory for the pharmacies to sell generic medicines. Mr Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister, Assam recently said that the state government will make it mandatory for the government doctors to prescribe generic medicines.
In fact, the state government has decided to make sales of generic medicines one of the criteria for giving licenses to pharmacies.
It may be noted here that the state government will purchase generic medicines for the government hospitals.
