Indian pharma companies secure 40 per cent of ANDAs approved by USFDA

Indian companies bagged 40 per cent of all ANDAs issued during January-July 2013.

New Delhi, September 1, 2013: According to a recent report, Indian pharma companies bagged close to 40 per cent of all Abbreviated New Drug Approvals (ANDAs) from the US Food and Drug Administration between January and July 2013. It may be noted here that ANDA is a prerequisite for marketing generic products in the US market. The two Indian companies, Sun Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma with 21 and 20 ANDA approvals respectively emerged as the winners, said a report from Centrum Broking.

The recent report speaks about the stringent production norms followed by the Indian pharma companies. Also, the performance of the most export oriented pharma companies is expected to improve in the coming months due to the approvals secured in the US (the largest pharma market across the globe).
