Hamsons picks up 21 per cent stake in Okasa Pharmaceuticals
Hamsons is an unlisted firm owned by Hamied family.
Mumbai, January 19, 2015: Hamsons, an unlisted firm owned by Hamied Family of the Mumbai-based pharma company Cipla has acquired a 21 per cent equity stake in the Satara based Okasa Pharmaceuticals.
The deal is part of the two-way transaction and according to the terms of the deal, Cipla's wholly owned arm Medispray Laboratories had purchased two manufacturing facilities of Okasa in September last year. The deal to acquire the minority stake concluded last week. The company has paid close to Rs 29 crore for Okasa’s facility in Goa and another plant located in Satara for Rs 71.93 crore.
Both the firms are owned by the people associated with the Hamied family. This acquisition is expected to bring a lot of operational and financial benefits to Cipla as majority of production from the units is dedicated to Cipla products.
