NPPA asks pharma companies to register for online database
The registration will help in online filing of returns for monitoring, fixing and revision of drug prices.
New Delhi, September 22, 2014: The national drug pricing regulator NPPA has asked all pharmaceutical companies to register under the Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS) for online filing of returns for monitoring, fixing and revision of drug prices.
"Availability of reliable database is a necessary pre- requisite for carrying out the functions of price fixation and price revision in respect of scheduled drugs; price fixation in respect of new drugs," according to a notice put up by National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).
The activity is being undertaken with the objective of the DPCO 2013 which mentions that the government should come out with an appropriate mechanism of obtaining market based data in due course of time.
The NPPA also said that the IPDMS is being launch with the purpose of registeration with immediate effect.
