Roche to manufacture two cancer drugs with Emcure Pharma
The move is expected to make the medicines cheaper.
New Delhi, March 1, 2013: Swiss drug company Roche has entered into an agreement with Emcure Pharma for local manufacturing of its two patented cancer drugs. It is expected that the technology transfer project will make the medicines cheaper.
"One of the foreign companies manufacturing drugs for treatment of cancer Roche has informed that they have entered in to an agreement with Indian manufacturing company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd, to produce its innovative biologics in India," Mr Srikant Kumar Jena, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
It is worth mentioning here that the project will allow for the local manufacture of Roche's medicines such as Trastuzumab and Rituximab. The project is expected to make these two important medicines more affordable to the Indian consumer.
