Schott Kaisha to set up a pharmaceutical packaging unit
The manufacturing unit is expected to attract an investment of 20 million euros.
Ahmedabad, February 8, 2013: The Indo-German joint venture between Schott AG and Kaisha Manufacturers Pvt Ltd, Schott Kaisha, is setting up an automated plant for pharmaceutical packaging in Jambusar, Gujarat, with an investment of 20 million euros.
The company plans to increase its production capacity in the country by 50 per cent taking it close to two billion ampoules and vials per year. It may be noted here that Schott has an existing production facility in Daman.
The new plant of the JV has 20 production lines for ampolues and 16 for vials and the capacity can be expanded further. As per the market studies, the pharmaceutical market in India is expanding by close to 14 to 17 per cent per year. At the same time, the pharmaceutical packaging segment is expected to grow in line with the overall pharma market, growing by over 11 per cent on an annual basis.
