WestCoast Pharma launches an online pharmacy store
Drugneed.com is launched by WestCoast Pharma after a year-long pilot project.
Ahmedabad, August 22, 2012: The drug company WestCoast pharma has launched an online pharmacy store. Drugneed.com marks the foray of the Ahmedabad-based pharma company into the niche e-commerce segment in India.
While the overall e-commerce is expected to grow at 40 per cent, it is believed that the niche segments will grow faster. The company considers this as a low cost, high-return venture.
It may be noted here that Drugneed.com is owned by DF Pharmacy Ltd (which is a part of WestCoast Pharma), and is launched after a year-long pilot project.
The company claims to offer 5,000+ products from 18 different categories. The company also said that it has a registered user base of over 1.5 lakh users. Currently, close to 40 per cent products in its online store come from SMEs and around 20 per cent are international brands.
Online shopping or ecommerce services are estimated to be at Rs 31,598 crore in India; with travel industry accounting for 76%, says a recent study by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
It is expected that WestCoast will be able to capitalise on the rising e-commerce frenzy among the modern Indian consumer.
